There comes a time during roadway reconstruction activities that asphalt placement becomes required only as a function of maintaining smooth roads and traffic flow, often to be removed prior to final asphalt paving work. Such applications might be temporary trench patches for road crossover trenches, temporary wedges for driveway access, temporary wedges for road widening work, etc. The mix used for this work may be standard warm mix asphalt or a asphalt mix referred to as ‘cold patch’ which is composed of chip aggregate and remains workable and malleable without requiring higher temperatures like typical asphalt.
