Clearing and Grubbing consists of removing trees, brush, stumps, topsoil, and other organic plant matter that requires removal prior to construction. Many state, city, and county specifications require that the contractor strip topsoil and trim trees within the right of way prior to construction or project completion. It is often required that stumps are also ground out to +/-6″ below grade if areas to be graded and seeded. Clearing for rights of way along roads, 20′ height is typically required.
