Curb drop lip too high - horizontal cut to repair it?

After paving, we realized the concrete contractor did not drop the curb far enough at a driveway approach. The engineer want's a max of a 1.5" lip from road asphalt to curb and it's 2.5" inches now. Can most sawcutting contractors repair this by horizontally cutting off the needed additional 1" + ???
