I understand the theoretic reason behind filter fabric fence, to keep erosion control and silt from entering streams and waterways. But it seems like 95% of the fence I see is either poorly maintained or is not controlling any erosion. What are the real evils being posed by not utilizing filter fabric fences? Is there a greater good or a 'bigger picture' here?
