Mobilization is an indirect cost in construction which typically consists of moving heavy equipment, trailers, materials, tools, etc to the jobsite in preparation for starting. For some companies, like heavy civil construction, mobilization can be a substantial cost making up a large portion of the project cost. In civil construction, mobilization is often paid for separately by the owner early on in construction.
