In Storm Pipe Excavation
We are looking at bidding a project involving replacement of an existing 18" clay storm sewer outlet that runs for about 1,200 feet from a road to a river. It collects several basins and various nearby drains so it always seems to have a steady 1/3 pipe of live water flow. Considering we'll likely start at the low end, will this end up being a wet mess or is it likely we can work through the flow? What sorts of variables might influence how manageable it might be?

In Reconstructing Manholes
I have to reconstruct a manhole in a parking lot whose top 2/3 has deteriorated and begun falling apart. I'd prefer to not have to remove the entire thing, order precast, dig back and reconnect pipes, etc. Can a pro provide some insight into the general process and pros/cons of reconstructing it with brick and mortar from the springline up?

In Reconstruct Catch Basins
I have to lower some existing catch basins about 18" from their existing elevation. The basins inside diameter is 2' x 2' with 6' thick precast walls. They have a separate 12" thick top that the grate sets in that can be removed. What would be the most efficient way to lower this basin without affecting the structural integrity of the basin?

For field change situations where a pipe connection invert elevation needs to go up or down, is there a industry standard connection treatment that is as water tight as a booted connection?

In Catch Basins
Hello, For an owner budget, I need some rough advice on estimating how many catch basins need to be added to a new parking lot and what size the pipes should be to get them to the outlet pond. Doesn't need to be a complex calculation, just an approximation on empirical evidence. The parking lot is about 1,670 square yards and has 3 areas that are all roughly (give or take) 50' x 100' each all kind of draining towards the center of each area. Any help would be appreciated.

Hello, What is an acceptable pipe slope range commonly specified for sanitary sewer mains? How about service laterals?

I'm hearing a bit about a new higher pressure corrugated HDPE pipe that is being specified/used on sanitary sewers. Who manufactures this pipe and can anyone comment on the specifications and performance?

We have an engineer who is requiring we air test a sanitary sewer, that will be concrete pipe, before it's put ito service. Is this possible? What are the variables and considerations?

An engineer has specified concrete pipe for a sanitary sewer project upcoming. Is this standard in the industry? It seems like concrete pipe joints would be too susceptible to infiltration/exfiltration. Also, are there additional things can can be done to reduce the risk of infiltration/exfiltration?

I'm curious how many concrete pipe pieces, based on size, can be fit on a standard semi flatbed trailer that's 48' long? And is there a point at which weight, not trailer area becomes a limiting factor?

In Cast in Place Headwalls
I'm curious what kind of finish others are providing to owners on their cast-in-place headwalls after stripping forms. Are you stripping and rubbing the walls? Leaving a natural form finish? Filling honeycomb and bugholes?

In Cast in Place Headwalls
I have an 84" Reinforced concrete pipe outletting through a cast in place headwall. I'm wondering what the pros and cons are to forming/boxing out the pipe opening in the wall versus actually placing the pipe inside the forms and pouring around it?
